Cupcakes for a Cause celebrates rich history

On Saturday, October 29, HEHS was “sprinkling” with activity during the 6th annual Cupcakes for a Cause event. The event, created as a way to encourage people to focus on the similarities rather than the differences, operates with the goal of uniting the community one cupcake at a time.

“I love seeing the creative cupcakes people manage to bake and decorate. The entertainment performed and run by the kids is always fun to watch,” said Amy Longmore of the Special Education Department, who runs the event.

There was cupcake decorating, face paint, nail art, and performances. Singers, dancers, cheerleaders, and HEHS Skyhawks were a part of the event and put together quite a show.

For the event, community bakeries, HEHS students and families donate cupcakes. These people bake and decorate their cupcakes and drop them off, helping the event to be possible. The bakers also had the option to choose if they wanted their cupcake entered in the Best Cupcake (Decoration) Contest.

“I appreciate the help from the volunteers because they really help make the process run smoothly,” said Longmore.

The proceeds of the fundraiser help the HEHS Special Olympics team, Hawksnest, and Toys for Tots.
