For Hoffman Estates High School senior, Isaac Reyes, being part of the homecoming court would be more than just a recognition. It would represent the dedication, involvement, and connections he has built during his four years at HEHS.
Reyes has always been active in the school community. He has played basketball, soccer, and track, and even took on the role of basketball manager. His time in sports has shaped his perspective on teamwork and people.
“Basketball and soccer definitely impacted me the most,” said Reyes. “In soccer especially, you meet so many people who speak different languages, and you have to figure out how to communicate with each other. It’s all about building relationships.”
For Reyes, HEHS’s diversity has been central to his growth both in and out of the classroom.
“Hoffman is very diverse, so you really have to find where you fit in,” said Reyes. “That experience taught me a lot about myself and about others.”
When asked about his favorite memories, Reyes recalls the moments that brought the community together.
“I’d have to say the bus rides home after away game wins or going to football games my freshman and sophomore year,” Reyes said. “It was just that sense of community, having fun, and creating relationships I’ll always remember.”
Looking ahead, Reyes hopes that when people think of him years from now, three words will come to mind: perseverance, respect, and care.
When asked why he chose to be so active in the Hoffman community, Reyes smiled.
“Coming into high school, I knew it was important to put myself out there,” he said. “I’ve always been an active person, so I wanted to meet new people, play sports whenever I could, and just do the best I can for the school.”
