Going to state and having Nikki Rong place 13th at sectionals are some of the successes the Girls’ XC has achieved this year. However, Coach Matt Ihms talks about the real achievements and highlights during this season overall.

“Every week we grew. When everybody improves, earns a personal record, ribbon, or medal, that’s important,” said Ihms. “Any type of growth or step is a highlight.”

Girls’ cross country has been qualified to sectionals for 13 years in a row, earning 8th place as a team.

When asking Rong how she felt being at state and about the season, she said this season was “very memorable and I felt accomplished. I have learned to trust myself and my teammates. Their dedication to the team motivated me throughout the season and to push myself t0 be better for them.”
