From 6:30 a.m. on Saturdays throughout the year as the debate captain to the varsity tennis court, Azhar Ahmed has been just about everywhere in our school. Recently, Ahmed, honoree, responded to our request for comment.
Ahmed is highly involved in the community at our school. Additionally, he describes his involvement.
“I love having something to do and meeting new people – sitting bored at home is the worst thing ever in my opinion” highlighting his involvement and why he is so integrated within our community. “Joining a bunch of activities kept me busy and gave me the opportunity to meet many new people,” he added.
When looking back at the most impactful activity he has participated in at our school Ahmed responded with debate.
“Debate has had the most significant impact on me throughout my high school years,” said Ahmed. “It has taught me public speaking skills, the ability to research and formulate arguments, and leadership.”
Not only is he a club leader and athlete, but he is a proud HEHS student.
“Being a student at HEHS has allowed me to appreciate the diversity of our community and learn from all of the different perspectives of our student body,” said Ahmed. “I don’t think I would be the same person if I had gone to any other high school.”
During his time at Hoffman Ahmed gives credit to the teacher that he feels has influenced him the most during his time here.
“Mr. Ramirez, my tennis coach and freshman year English teacher has influenced me the most during my time at HEHS,” said Ahmed. “He has pushed me to be a better athlete and leader on the team, and has taught me that showing up, even when it’s hard, leads to success individually and as a team.”
When reflecting on his time at Hoffman, Ahmed said he is pleased with what he has accomplished so far.
“My younger self would be very surprised and happy that I am able to contribute to the school community in so many different ways,” said Ahmed. “I want to be remembered as compassionate, Involved, and successful.”
Ahmed has had much to contribute to his success. He adds a quote that he thought was very impactful.
“My dad told me when I was little that life can change in an instant,“ said Ahmed. “People at the top can fall and people at the bottom can rise in the blink of an eye, which is why humility and gratitude, regardless of situation, are so important.”
