This year College Night was held at Palatine High School. There were hundreds of D211 D211 students taking an advantage of this opportunity by starting their search for the perfect college.

“I gained a lot of new information,” said Riya Raval (‘16). Raval started off by asking the college representatives about the different majors they have.

Many students agree that the key to finding that perfect college experience is to not procrastinate searching for that perfect experience

Haenah Kim (‘15) has some fairly straight-forward advice: “START EARLY. START EARLY. START EARLY.”

The most frequent problem students have is figuring out what schools would make the most sense for them, which may be one reason why procrastination sets in.

According to Henry Woo (‘15), students should start off by asking themselves what they want to major in, and then go on from there. Both Kim and Woo encourage that students should talk to their counselors about looking for colleges.

This process can be overwhelming and difficult for students, which is why District 211 holds an annual College Fair. This is an event where hundreds of college and university representatives gather to answer curious students’ questions. This event helps students acquire information about colleges, which will make it easier to tackle those tough decisions.

Other students like Melissa Shah (‘16) asked about the different scholarship opportunities the universities had to offer. When asked if they would recommend students to attend college night next year, both Shah and Raval simultaneously answered with a solid yes.

The students interviewed for this piece offer this piece of advice: attend college night next year to gain some useful information; who knows, you may even run across your dream college. It’s never too early to work towards a happy future.
