Effective Jul 1, 2025 Dr. Judith Campbell will replace Dr. Lisa Small as the superintendent of school District 211 (D211). Dr. Campbell is coming from Kansas City where she was the Deputy Superintendent of the Kansas Public schools. Currently, Dr. Campbell is learning from the students and teachers of the district their main concerns in these past few years.
“I am looking to get information and learn about District 211. I had the opportunity to visit every school today, and I asked two questions; what are the things that are going well, and what do you love, and is what is one of those things that if you had a magic wand you want me to look into or that you want, aspire to be fixed,” said Dr. Campbell.
Dr. Campbell also has a philosophy that she plans to incorporate during her time at D211, “The Power of 1”. This philosophy highlights the idea that one adult, one school, and one district work together to advocate for students to allow them to succeed. She believes that every student should be given the opportunity to succeed and should be given the resources to do so.
“The power of one for me is that every child, everyday will have the ability to show their learning and the impact of their learning when given the resources, the voice, the choice, and the opportunity to share their experiences, today and also in the future,” said Dr. Campbell. “What that means is truly equipping you all [students] the way you all need to be equipped to ensure your success.”
Dr. Campbell started her teaching career as a special education teacher and has since been able to use what she has learned to help students succeed. She notes that not all students will show growth in the same way, but as long as a student has the resources to continue to grow, “…we are headed in the right direction.”
“It is our job to diversify how you grow as a student. What that means is that, we have to look through a multifaceted lens offering the opportunities for students to show skills and growth,” said Dr. Campbell.
Dr. Campbell plans to continue to learn more about D211 and give students the resources they need to succeed in all aspects of their lives. She will continue to bring the D211 community for the benefit of students.
“One school, one district, one community, and when I say that it is through a multifaceted lens in which I call equity,” said Dr. Campbell.
