Competitive dance is one of many sports offered at HEHS, which requires a lot of hard work and is both fun and challenging. Those who are a part of competitive dance find the experience very rewarding and very much worth it.
“My favorite part is definitely performing with all my friends and I like the feeling of going on the floor and putting out what you worked really hard on,” said Emma Morales, freshman.
Competitions, while nerve racking, are a source of pride and accomplishment.
“Six hours of competitions are also tiring, but for me going to different schools is really fun especially if you’re with the people you love to hang out with,” said Eleni Cailean Espiritu, freshman.
Friendship and teamwork are an important part of competitive dance and what makes the experience even more enjoyable.
“Getting ready for competitions with the girls is always the best part,” said Viktoriia Kushnir, freshman.
Inspiration to join can stem from many factors. Factors such as being inspired by others or being with friends and getting to be with other people who share the same love for dance is what makes the experience and hard work worth it.
“Whenever I would go to football games, I would always like see the dance team on the sidelines and it seemed really fun,” said Ajla Sabic, freshman.
The coaches are very proud of their students. To them, it’s a very rewarding experience to teach and watch their students grow.
“Seeing the dancers push themselves at every practice, refine their skills, and strengthen their teamwork is truly inspiring,” said Kate Giglio, coach.
