Seniors Shiv Patel and Marielle Lugo were recently crowned HEHS’ Homecoming King and Queen.

“I’m absolutely honored,” said Lugo (’16). “It’s kind of weird. Plus, people I’ve never spoken to before will come up and ask me ‘Aren’t you Homecoming Queen?’ and I’m like ‘Oh yeah. That’s me, isn’t it?”

Patel was also in awe of his win and grateful to all who voted him in. “I want to thank you all for allowing a kid who really didn’t have many friends going into high school feel special. It really is an honor and something I will never forget,” said Patel (’16).

Lugo likes to live in the moment and is to end her last year at Hoffman on a high note. “I want to do all the things I never had time to do, because there’s no time like the present. I want to be able to look back at my high school years and be satisfied,” said Lugo (’16).

Patel also wants to make his last year memorable and did so at the Homecoming Dance. “I was most excited to spend time and dance with all the friends I’ve created over my four years. I wanted to make my last homecoming week memorable and I can proudly say that I have,” said Patel (‘16).
Lugo, ever the memorable person, reflects on her favorite circus act in only the way that she can. “I would want to be an acrobat, because they are capable of such amazing feats! And then there’s regular old me that can’t even do a cartwheel…,” said Lugo (‘16), “My second choice would be fire-breathing, because I would pretend I was a dragon!”
Lugo and Patel were involved in all Homecoming events, including the football game against Fremd and the Homecoming Dance.
