Hoffman’s football team is still in the hunt for a playoff spot. The hawks started the season winning two of their first three games against Streamwood and Hersey.

After some tough losses against Schaumburg and Rolling Meadows, the Hawks would need to win their next three games to have an opportunity to make it into the playoffs. The first test was against Fremd. After a slow start, Fremd started to rally and forced the game into overtime.

During the overtime, the Hawks took a risk and went for a two point conversion, and this risk proved worthwhile as the Hawks emerged victorious against Fremd for the first time in years.

“It feels awesome to beat Fremd. We believed in each other and we still have a long way to go,” said Ryan Howson (’15).

Even after this homecoming game victory, the Hawks had a match up against crosstown rival Conant. Just like the homecoming game, this one came right down to the wire, as the Hawks outlast the Cougars by merely a single point.

“This is something special. One more game, one more game until playoffs,” said Chady Bitre (’15).

The Hawks are on track to do just that after two large upsets against perennial powerhouse schools Fremd and Conant. Their next game is this upcoming Friday against the Barrington Broncos.
