This year Peers and Leaders in Service (PALS) has put together Hawk Kits that will be given to the homeless individuals. This fundraiser provides club members an opportunity to make a difference in others’ lives.

“As PALS, we decided to help collect donations to support as many homeless people as we can,” said Jasmin Chung, club sponsor and English teacher.

Tom McNamara, a retired HEHS special education teacher, is the inspiration for this fundraiser.

“He was a wonderfully kind and compassionate person who continues to be of service to people in need in our community and across the nation,” said Chung. “He is currently known as The Sock Man, and he drives around the county in an RV giving socks and basic supplies to homeless people.”

PALS will continue this collection drive for Hawk Kits for Homeless next year, said Chung. Additionally, next month the club will begin collecting socks, which will be given to The Sock Man. McNamara will then continue his journey to give to those in need.
