Junior Alison Naranjo is a living breathing example of an ideal friend.

An independent introvert, Naranjo is passionate, caring, reliable, and a strong person. She is always available to help someone out of a dilemma and offer open-minded feedback.

“I like to help people and I would like to become a doctor because I would be the first in the family to have a profession,” said Naranjo.

As much as she is introverted, Naranjo still carries a torch for making changes for people around her both socially and with empathy. Pursuing a career in the medical field as an obstetrician/gynecologist shows Naranjo’s passion for caring and desire to help others.

“Alison is always there for me,” said Nicole Perez, also a junior and a close friend. “She is constantly someone to rely on. I consider her as my closest friend. She is someone you could depend on; she always is there for you no matter what and is courageous and considerate about everyone and everything.”

Besides being a friend to most, Naranjo spends time improving schoolwork or herself as an individual. She hopes become more patient and more expressive because she tends to keep to herself.

“Alison could improve on getting work done as soon as she gets it rather than procrastinating and waiting until the last minute,” said Karla Estrada, junior and a close friend.

Naranjo is keen on fixing her problems as well as listening to others about theirs. Part of being an ideal friend is being able to listen to others. Having sympathy and concern for others really demonstrates who a person is.

“One word to describe Alison…compassionate is a great one,” said Naz Ahmed, English teacher.

Ahmed believes Alison is a very sweet, caring, family-oriented, passionate, and attentive.

She is “very studious,” added Perez. “She talks a little too much but does put in effort when all is done.”

Estrada said that it is a pleasure to have Naranjo in class because she will guide others in the right direction if they lose focus on the material, said Estrada.

Other than being caring about others, Naranjo does need time to focus on herself. Maintaining good grades requires good focus and determination. She has had good role models to help her become the determined individual that she is.

“My mom is my role model because she is strong and confident: I want to be like her when I grow up,” said Naranjo.

Naranjo would also like to fulfill some of her dreams as she continues on her journey despite any fears.

“Well… I would love to go skydiving, travel to every continent, swim with some sharks (me inside the cage because I’m scared of getting hurt), and go bungee jumping. There are many more to add to that list,” she said.
