Return of the Lit Mag

HEHS literary magazine to be published this summer

Literary Magazine members review submissions for the upcoming publication.

“Everything that happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” The well known quote can be applied to many situations, especially in the Hoffman Estates Literary Magazine, where the creative process is kept behind the scenes until its publication this summer. The group is small, but the environment they’ve established makes it all worthwhile.

“It’s a very chill place, which makes it easy to share your craft in,” said Piper Bourseau, senior. “When we share work with each other, everyone really thinks about it thoroughly and shows compassion and respect, even while giving constructive criticism.”

So what is the Literary Magazine, also known as the Lit Mag?

As junior Ina Cherukumilli puts it, the “Lit Mag is a close knit group of writers, poets, storytellers, artists, photographers–you name it–that makes it their goal to publish a magazine compiling and showcasing the creative talent of our school.”

The Lit Mag is a melting pot of creative ideas and expressions, ranging from gorgeously decorated art pieces, to photos that bleed a thousand invisible words onto the pages. The emotional investment is a pay off that many members remark on.

Michelle Lin, sophomore, feels that self-expression is a key part to the magazine. It’s “a way for writers to express their thoughts and experiences to not only express themselves, but show others that they’re not alone,” said Lin.

If any creative people want to get their chance to get a peek inside “Vegas,” the club is open to everyone who wishes to publish their work or edit the work of others.

“If you’d like to try writing or editing surrounded by a sweet and supportive group of people, then Lit Mag is the place for you!” said Bourseau.
