Meet the Staff

Hello! My name is Carmen. I'm a freshman at HEHS and I am a staff writer for the Hawkeye View. In my free time, I love to read. I am an avid reader and I could read all day long without taking a break....

HEHS student starts the first ever Coding Club at the high school in order to create a community for people who share her passion.

“Let’s gain a superpower!” said Jackie Enkhotgon, junior and Coding Club creator.

Enkhotgon was determined to create a community for people who share the same interest in coding.

“I enjoy the feeling I get when I finally solve a problem, and I feel like I can just do basically anything,” said Enkhotgon. “It’s like a superpower for me.”

Coding is not without its challenges. Anyone who has ever coded can relate to the frustration of receiving error after error on a single code. It can be challenging to feel as if you will never get it quite right.

“It’s the satisfaction of fulfilling the challenge because coding can be the best day or the worst day of your life because it’s so frustrating,” said Kay Yereb, math teacher and Coding Club sponsor.

Yereb goes on to explain that learning to code can “help people troubleshoot…the technology issues that you run into all the time.”

As technology advances each passing day, the world transcends into a digital state. And with this comes many and more technological issues.

The club is for anyone and everyone, beginner or expert, with a passion for coding. All are welcome. The first meeting will be Wednesday, September 13 at 2:55 p.m. in Room 260. If you have any extra questions, please email [email protected].
