Following the motto of “forever family,” the HEHS girls lacrosse program continues to leave players with lifelong lessons and lasting bonds.

“It really is more than just a sport or a program,” said Maddie Frank, a junior on varsity lacrosse.

Reflecting on the 2024 girls lacrosse season, there were many ups and downs; however, the team maintained a strong work ethic and sense of togetherness.

“Girls lacrosse is different from any other sport at Hoffman because our relationship as a team is so strong, and our coaches truly care about and love us,” said Frank.

Rachel Wickey, senior varsity goalie, has been playing lacrosse for Hoffman Estates High School since her freshman year and has embodied the standards of the girls lacrosse program—play hard, play smart, play together.

During this past season, Wickey was notably recognized as the 2024 MSL West Defensive Player of the Year. Reflecting on her commitment to HEHS girls lacrosse for her entire high school career, Wickey said, “It’s been an honor to play with this team and for this program.”

The girls lacrosse program at Hoffman Estates High School takes pride in being more than just a team—the team is a family.

“To be completely transparent, while I do focus a lot on my performance, it’s my teammates and this community that make it all worth it for me,” said Wickey. “I could never get awards like defender of the year without these girls. I give them so much credit—I truly couldn’t do it without them.”

Her experiences from HEHS girls lacrosse will stick with her as she takes on a new endeavor playing college lacrosse at Aurora University.
