Hoffman’s 2024 homecoming week was one fit for champions, certainly following through with this year’s theme of the Olympics. From interactive spirit days to an elegant coronation, homecoming week had it all.
From the start of homecoming week, students were greeted by an intricate assortment of decorations filling every hallway. In HEHS tradition, each club and activity has the opportunity to decorate a section of the school to create an atmosphere related to the homecoming theme.
“Homecoming week was great,” said Odell Andrews, senior. “My highlight was being able to make posters together, we worked really hard on them.”
Homecoming week never fails to provide chances to show off Hawk pride, especially when participating in the spirit days.
“I had a lot of fun with the spirit days and being able to encourage others to participate,” said Maddie Gershon, senior.
Always the most formal and grand event of the week, Hoffman’s gym was transformed to host a dazzling homecoming coronation ceremony after hours of preparation.
“At the end of the day, all of our hard work and dedication paid off,” said Molly Bell, sophomore student council member. “It was so amazing to see everything highlighted in such a beautiful ceremony.”
Out of the twelve members of the court, the coronation revealed this year’s two esteemed honorees, Odell Andrews and Nida Sultana. Additionally, the two congeniality winners were announced as Kendall Burdick and Maddy Bell.
When asked of the significance of being named an esteemed honoree, Andrews said, “it means people care and appreciate what I’ve done for the school and the hard work I’ve put in was seen.”
In response to the same question, Sultana said, “I always looked up to the past homecoming courts and to be named an esteemed honoree while being a role model to all of my peers is the best feeling.”
After an exciting coronation ceremony, the fun continued at the football game under Friday night lights where Hoffman took on Main East—the hawks defeating and taking victory over the blue demons.
“Everyone coming out for the football game all dressed up is the best sight to see,” said Kendall Burdick, senior.
2024’s homecoming week was one to remember, leaving students with lasting memories.
“Homecoming week was an absolute experience,” said Burdick, “it was beautifully done and so fun to see it all come together.”
