Returning from winter break, the start of second semester tends to be dull and difficult to endure. Suddenly reality comes back to life as due dates, tests, and studying makes a bold reappearance. However, to brighten up the dark, cold months of a typical Illinois winter, Hoffman Estates High School hosted the annual Winter Formal dance on Saturday, January 25.
Winter Formal gave a much-needed opportunity for the students of HEHS to let go of their school-stress for an evening of fun with their peers. The gym was completely transformed, no longer looking like the location of a physical education class but instead a dazzling environment complete with beaming lights and an interactive DJ table.
“The decorations in the gym really added to the ambiance and atmosphere of winter formal,” said Saad Kahn, a senior who attended the dance. “The bright lights made the scene lively and having beach balls on the dance floor was also fun because we could toss them around.”
Whether busting a move on the dance floor or taking a break to spend time with friends away from the noise, there surely was an activity for everyone at Winter Formal.
“My highlight of the winter formal dance was definitely being on the dance floor with my friends, though I also enjoyed having some downtime in the cafeteria and enjoying yummy snacks,” said Kahn.
Winter formal was a night to remember–lasting memories were surely created amongst friends, laughter, and fun.
