Forensics positions itself for a trip to the State competition

Forensics is an activity that “bleeds blue and orange,” and according to Kathy Phillips, the head coach, the team is planning on representing Hoffman at State.

Recruitment began in September and some of the veteran members are already perfecting their scripts. In Forensics, students participate in various events; some events have scripts that are memorized while others are made up at the about 20 Saturday tournaments. Phillips has told the Hawkeye View that she helps make forensics possible because it has changed her life; by helping her interview well in college and for jobs.

Coaching is her way of being thankful for the gain of skills from when she participated in forensics. Phillips says she will make this year her best by “motivating the students to be the best.” Her goal is to get Hoffman back into the spotlight. The co-captains, Nidhi Shastri and Ani Krishnan, plan for this year to have more team bonding and improve the team as a whole, to make them stronger together, like a family. Nidhi Shastri is a senior that has wanted to be a captain since her freshman year.

Shastri says that she does forensics because it is “such an experience.” She says that she has met many people and being a part of forensics gives real life skills. As captain she wants the team members “to have fun.” Forensics tournaments will soon be underway, so if you see a member on Friday with their forensics shirt on, wish them luck!

Recruitment is still available! If interested, contact Mrs Phillips before October 10th.
