Variety, talent showcased at this year’s Variety Show

This year’s Variety Show offered entertainment and incredible talent, from dance acts to singers and musical performances. Students of all ages brought the variety this past weekend.

Esmeralda Gutierrez may be a freshman and, therefore, new to Hoffman Estates High School, but she is not new to performing on stage.

Gutierrez loves the spotlight and has been performing in variety shows since elementary school. It has been four consecutive and successful years of experience, she said. At the HEHS Variety Show, she played Sia’s hit song Chandelier on her viola, showing once again her fearlessness in showcasing her talent.

Renzell Roque is a senior with a fierce passion for dance. He began to pursue dance when he was in sixth grade and immediately decided it was what he wanted to do. His hip hop moves have entertained his video viewers and competitive judges. This may have been his last school-related variety show, but Roque’s love for dance will keep him moving beyond high school.

Edwin Valenzuela, Khalil Greaves, and Giancarlo Morel are a group of young dancers that have an incredible talent. They have been dancing competitively with each other since middle school. This year the trio brought their hip hop routine to the HEHS stage.

Kiara Jones is a sophomore that first picked up her acoustic guitar at the start of middle school. The love of singing went hand in hand with her musical experience, and she began taking her favorite songs and covering them.

Last year, Jones’ Variety Show performance was a success. This year, her Taylor Swift medley that contains all of Taylor’s hits and her gifted guitar playing gave her the opportunity to once again bring her love of music to HEHS.
